With our Financial Protection, an employee is insured if he or she is ill for more than 6 weeks (from the 42nd day of illness) or becomes unemployed through no fault of his or her own and receives unemployment benefit 1 (“Arbeitslosengeld I” or “ALG I”) from the Employment Agency.

Unemployed through no fault of your own means that someone has become unemployed through no fault or action of their own. This can be due to external circumstances such as redundancies, company closures or economic crises where the person concerned had no control over the loss of their job.

Financial Protection covers a predefined amount of money. The exact amount varies depending on the area of application and includes, for example, the financial gap between net salary and sickness benefit or unemployment benefit 1 or loan, savings plan or subscription instalments. All we need is a certificate from the statutory health insurance company confirming that the insured person is receiving sick pay or a certificate from the German employment agency confirming that ALG I is currently being paid. All certificates are submitted via our partner platform, which forwards the documents to us.
